Katie

Dr. Kathryn Newman

Dr. Kathryn Newman grew up in Knoxville, graduating from Bearden High School and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She married her husband, Luke, in 2007 and they have two beautiful daughters whom they adore. On most nights and weekends, you will find them on the sidelines of the soccer fields, basketball courts, or at gymnastics proudly cheering on their girls. They attend Foothills Church in Maryville. Luke works as an engineer for TDOT but also helps with accounting and other behind the scenes duties at Knoxville Dental Group.

Cecil

Dr. W. Cecil Pigford

Dr. Pigford opened KDG in January of 1986 after graduating from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. His deep passion for interacting with people and helping others is one of the key reasons he decided to open his own dental group. Additionally, he instructed in the crown and bridge department at the dental school for 5 years. He is currently retired but commonly comes around to fill in and see patients. In his free time, Dr. Pigford enjoys playing golf, traveling, and hiking with his wife Lisa, who used to work at KDG alongside him.

Kathy

Office Manager

Kathy has worked at KDG as the office manager for 38 years! She is from Jefferson County and graduated from Walter State Community College. She loves her job because she sees her patients as family. She is very appreciative of Dr. Newman, who is a wonderful boss to her through expertise and kindness. In her free time, she enjoys reading and glamping. She also finds value in faith, family and friends. She loves her husband, 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.

Monica

Front Desk

Monica has worked at the front desk of KDG since October of 2021. She’s originally from Augusta, Georgia, and attended Pellissippi State Community College. She also holds an electronic health records certificate! Monica’s love of working with patients led her to the field of dentistry. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, including her husband, Justin, 2 daughters, Bridgette and MacKenzie, and her son Jackson.

Christina

Lead Registered Dental Assistant

Christina has worked with KDG as the lead Registered Dental Assistant for the past 10 years. She graduated from Roane State Community College, and loves helping others and seeing patients invest in their best self. She loves that she gets to be a part of that transformation! In her free time, she enjoys running and hiking and you can find her spending time with her husband and daughter, or one of her many pets.

Delaney

Registered Dental Assistant

Delaney works as a registered Dental Assistant and has been with KDG for 2 years. She is from Lafollette, TN and attended Tennessee Tech. She is great at talking to all kinds of people and loves to see them smile! In her free time, she enjoys going to truck shows, cooking and spending time with her husband and adorable daughter, Wrenlee.

Brooklyn

Dental Assistant

Brooklyn works as a dental assistant at KDG. She graduated from Tennessee College of Applied Technology and loves making patients happy. In her free time, she enjoys playing and hiking with her dog, Oscar.

Pam

Dental Hygienist

Pam has worked as a Dental Hygienist at KDG for 24 years! She graduated from ETSU and is certified to administer local anesthesia. What she loves about her job is getting to know her patients and families, helping them to have healthy smiles. In her free time, she likes to spend time outdoors, hike, ride bikes and travel with her husband and three daughters.

Shelia

Registered Dental Hygienist

Shelia is originally from Decatur, TN and graduated with her Dental Hygiene Degree from Chattanooga State Community College in 1989. She is licensed in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Administration. Shelia has been working at KDG since 2014, and joined Tennessee Weslyan University as Senior Clinical Instructor in their Dental Hygiene Department in 2019. She loves educating her patients on proper oral hygiene, as well as teaching new dental hygiene student’s proper techniques and trends. In her free time, Shelia enjoys traveling with her car-enthusiast husband, David, to different car shows throughout the southeast and spending time with her children and family.

Christina

Registered Dental Hygienist

In 2007, Christina graduated from Roane State Community College with an A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene Technology. She prides herself on creating and maintaining lasting relationships and friendships with her patients through communication, trust, and confidence. Christina is devoted to educating patients on their individual needs and highly skilled in periodontal therapy and soft-tissue management. In her free time, her and her husband, Ivan, enjoy traveling, adventuring, learning about other cultures, and spending time with their two dogs, Epic and Roo.

Betsy

Dental Hygienist

Betsy received her dental hygiene degree from Roane State Community College in 2010 and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Business at Tennessee Wesleyan University. She is licensed to administer nitrous and local anesthesia. Betsy takes pride in building trusting relationships and spending time one on one time educating her patients on individualized oral hygiene recommendations. As a member of multiple dental hygiene groups and associations, she strives to continually educate herself and her patients on the latest treatment modalities and home care techniques. In her free time, Betsy loves spending time with her husband and son, flower gardening, crafting, collecting flamingos, and serving her church and community.
